Why it's Important to Plan Your Building Ahead

"Having worked within the building industry for over fifteen years I have witnessed the realisation of countless new build or renovation projects. For the homeowner, amongst the stress and anticipation there are important decisions to be made, decisions that can make or break any project.

Being in the ironmongery sector I have learned an important lesson which often gets overlooked. Planning a project in as much detail as possible before building begins is imperative, especially on the ironmongery front. Ironmongery is a necessity and something that you will use every day. It may seem like a small final detail, but the correct choice of door, window or kitchen furniture can totally transform the interior look, feel and function of any property.

Often windows are installed with standard handles that don’t match the door or kitchen furniture or even complement the windows themselves.  Many people don’t realise that windows, doors and kitchens can be purchased without ironmongery, which can be sourced afterwards.

Choosing the right style of ironmongery to suit the building or renovation project is the first important decision. This must be considered at an early stage when you start to think about doors and windows. The second important decision is selecting an ironmongery range that can be used throughout the property, creating a cohesive look."
