Sustainability

We certainly don’t claim to be the experts when it comes to sustainability and although we have taken impactful steps in recent years to reduce the amount of emissions and waste created during our manufacturing process, we know there is still a long way to go.

While celebrating the small wins and working towards our goals for the future, we have also put our profits to good use by setting up non-profit organisation Wilba Conservation; a nature impact company that works to encourage and conserve nature by working with farmers and landowners in our local area of Radnorshire, Mid-Wales.

The Wins The Goals
Recyclable Packaging

Over the past two years we have moved steadily towards reducing the amount of plastic in our packaging.
Packaging

Reduce the amount of plastic in our From The Anvil packaging by a further 10%.
Solar Power

In December 2023 we installed solar panels on our showroom roof. Able to generate 100kw, these solar panels generate enough electricity to power our offices and put the surplus back into the grid.
GHG Emissions

Begin to accurately measure and record the amount of GHG emissions we emit.
Warehouse Improvements

With the construction of our second warehouse in 2023, sustainability was a driving factor. Fitted throughout with sensor lights the new warehouse requires much less resources. Following the completion of the build, we planted the green areas around the warehouse with wildflowers and native beech hedging.
Biodiverse Offices & Staff Wellbeing

Improve the benefits to biodiversity around our offices by installing water butts to harvest rainwater and planting more trees to develop green spaces for our staff to enjoy, alongside actively encouraging staff to walk or cycle to work through initiatives such as the Bike2Work scheme.
Factory Improvements

We have installed an environmentally friendly powder coating machine at our factory in Wales.
Marketing Material

Ensure the next From The Anvil brochure is printed on FSC-certified paper.

Guided by the landscape that surrounds us

With the From The Anvil headquarters based in rural Mid Wales, our team are incredibly lucky to live and work in an area of such incredible natural beauty. The landscape that surrounds us shifts and changes with the seasons, from the yellow blaze of daffodils in Spring to the Red Kites soaring over hay meadows in late summer.

The countryside that we enjoy everyday is shaped by farming and nature. And it is the beauty of where we live that acts as a reminder that we as a business must do better for the natural world. Within the business group that From The Anvil belongs to, is our sister company, Wilba. A non-profit that aims to work alongside farmers and landowners, to encourage and conserve nature by protecting and connecting areas of habitat. So far, Wilba has managed to create over 100,000 square meters of habitat through conservation projects right here in Mid Wales.

‘Based in the beautiful landscape of Radnorshire, an appreciation for nature, the countryside and farming is in our blood.’

Founded in Radnorshire, farming is the backbone of the local economy. Wilba is proud of the area’s agricultural roots and feels strongly about working with farming communities to help nature flourish.

For realistic change, they believe there needs to be a practical balance between conservation and agriculture and that it doesn’t have to be one or the other.

Wilba aims to keep things simple and straightforward, to engage people with nature and the food they eat.

Their projects include fencing off and protecting pockets of uncultivated or unusable land; hedge planting & laying; creating nature corridors; establishing & maintaining hay meadows; planting trees in suitable areas and maintaining existing woodland.
