Holly Oak House: A Sneak Peek

Anna and her husband have been slowly renovating their gorgeous family home since 2014. Three years ago, Anna started to share her renovation journey on Instagram and the rest is history!

Our Aged Bronze finish was chosen throughout the house to complement its subtle, neutral interior and the Hinton design reflects its timeless aesthetic.

The property has been renovated to a very high standard with a keen eye for styling and attention to detail in every room. You are instantly met with a warm, homely feel as you enter. The first room you notice is the kitchen where you can find our Hinton lever handles fitted to the fresh white doors and matching espags and stays adorning the windows. Wide glass doors open the hallway into a spectacular living area, again featuring our Aged Bronze Hinton products on all windows and panel doors.

We caught up with Anna from @holly_oak_house and spoke about her renovation journey below…

Q: What made you fall in love with your property?

I think the space initially, it was quite a lot larger than our previous home and having just started a family, that was everything, I hadn’t appreciated how much space you need with young children! It’s positioned in a lovely semi-rural location too and it is beautiful to look at, although it was a new build and lacked character inside, I knew in time we could put our own stamp on it and make it fabulous.

Q: How did you find the renovation process?

Slow! There was a lot I wanted to change, but with a baby and a wedding to plan, time and funds were limited so they took a back seat for the first couple of years. We then took it a room at a time, and it’s only recently (now the children are older) I’ve found more time and developed a real love for it. Neutral interior with potted indoor tree, beige armchair with square cushion, large lamp, & white windows & doors with Aged Bronze door handle & window ironmongery.

Q: What were your design inspirations?

Initially my sister-in-law, she has always had a passion for interiors and has a fabulous home, my love grew from there. Brands like Neptune and Oka continue to provide me with inspiration daily, along with other home accounts on Insta, I could spend all day looking at other people’s creativity.

Q: At what stage of the build did you consider ironmongery?

At the very start really, I knew I wanted the finishes to flow around the house. The choice of finishes available now are wonderful, so many to choose from! They can really transform cabinetry.

Q: How did you discover From the Anvil?

"My Cabinet Maker had built a kitchen for a family friend, and they had chosen From The Anvil Ironmongery, and in short, I fell in love."Left: white window with Aged Bronze fastener & stays with green potted plant in foreground. Right: white cabinets with integrated coat hooks & a basket of pumpkins.

Q: Why did you choose From the Anvil products?

The vast choice of finishes available, the stunning designs and their reputation.

Q: What's been the most rewarding transformation so far?

I think opening up the kitchen. We knocked the utility room wall through and created a larger more functional space, we appreciate it every day. Neutral utility room with wicker baskets, hanging garden tools, & a white window with an Aged Bronze stay & fastener.Above: our Aged Bronze Hinton Stay and matching Hinton Fastener.

Q: Do you have any advice for those about to begin a renovation project of their own?

Be patient! Especially if you have a young family, we’ve been here seven years and still aren’t finished! I was amazed at how much longer this second house took us, we blasted through the first pre kids!7

Q: What’s next on the to do list?

Our cloakroom, our office and then we are going to venture outside and possibly build an oak frame garage and landscape the garden creating a functional outdoor seating area! Again, it’ll take time… but I’m excited for the next phase! 8Above: our Aged Bronze Hinton Window Stays and Fasteners.
