What type of hinge should I choose for my door?
The best type of hinges depends on what you use them for.
Most modern doors are solid and at least 44mm thick, so a Standard or Ball Bearing Butt Hinge would be most suitable.
For traditional plank or ledge and brace doors, we recommend using T or Strap Hinges (these doors are too thin for a butt hinge leaf to be screw fixed to the edge of the door).
Our 'H' or 'HL' hinges can be used on a multitude of door sizes and styles, with the 'H' offering a strong but slimline solution, and the 'HL' serving the same purpose but with additional strength for heavier or damaged doors/shutters.
We also offer Parliament hinges which are used to project a door away from the frame when opening, and Butterfly hinges whose decorative appearance is ideal for use in kitchens and on cupboards.
Stormproof hinges give a close, weatherproof fit for windows.
Friction hinges are suitable for wood, uPVC, or aluminium windows.
